First painting completed for 2026. Titled, "Swamp Ferocity". Encaustic and mixed media on wood panel. Size: 11" x 14" . This painting will be on display at the BREC Nature Center in Baton Rouge.
Every year I enjoy participating in the SWAMP SPECTACULAR art exhibit at the BREC Nature Center in Baton Rouge. Since the painting has to be ready by the middle of January, the timeline helps me to quickly get back into a painting groove, especially after a holiday break. In addition, the BREC center offers a fabulous artist reception. I enjoy speaking with other artists and viewing the amazing styles of artwork. And while you are there you can see snakes and turtles. lol
Here is my painting:

“Swamp Ferocity”
The air is thick with the scent of umber and ancient moss. The swamp breathes in olive and burnt sienna. Here, the water is a heavy velvet, a mossy green….wet, decaying, and exotic in its dark labor. It carries the bones of branches, the weight of what has passed. Turning old grief into the soil of what is next.
In the high corner of the sky, the moon breathes. A silver eye carving a path through the misting veil. It reveals the beauty hidden in the shadows, the truth that light is a patient traveler.
At the heart of the stillness, the Golden Boar stands. He is the brave pulse of the earth, the spirit of the mire. Grounded in a ferocity that does not need to roar. He is the anchor in the silt, the sanctuary in the mud.
She is like this water, not yet clear, but moving. She is like this spirit, mending, standing, becoming. Her feet are planted deep in the dark, where the exotic soul learns to bloom in the damp. Her aura burns through the ancient trees, A golden light, unhurried and fierce, tough enough to survive, and bright enough to lead her home.
